How do I hard reset my modem?

Do you have Fixed Internet from us and the connection is not working properly? If you suspect that your modem is not working as it should, a factory reset (in other words, a hard reset) can help. Before you do this, we recommend to use the network status checker (CZ) and restart the modem. For more technical troubleshooting tips, see this section of the Care Center.

What is the difference between a reboot and a modem reset?

  • Restarting the modem - means that you turn the modem off and on. It is recommended to completely disconnect the modem from the electricity for about a minute. Once the modem is switched on, it may take a few minutes before the internet connection is available again.
  • Modem reset - in this case you can reset the modem to factory settings via the modem administration or by using the reset button. This means that all settings (such as the Wi-Fi network name and password) will be erased and set to the default values. So the modem will be in the same state as when you first took it out of the box and plugged it in for the first time.

What is good to know before doing a factory reset and how do I do the reset?

Performing a reset will erase all modifications to the modem settings and reset them to the factory defaults. Most often, this will mean that your Wi-Fi network name and password, or your administration password, will match the information you find on the label on your modem. You can also refer to your modem's manual for the specific reset procedure.

Find the reset button on the modem.

It's usually on the back of the modem and is recessed, so you'll need a paperclip or maybe a toothpick to press it.

Press and hold the reset button with a suitable object for about 15 seconds.

The modem must be powered on before pressing the reset button.

The modem is reset to the factory default settings.

This will set the default Wi-Fi network name, default passwords, etc. You can find this information on the modem's label. If you have DSL or Optical Fixed Internet and you are not using a modem from us, you may need to set it up again for it to work properly on our network (CZ).

After the factory reset, wait a few minutes and try to reconnect to your device.

In the case of a Wi-Fi connection, you will need to search for the network using the label on the modem, the username and password will be set to the default values.
