What is a Data Cost Control in Roaming?

Data Cost Control in Roaming watches your data spending while abroad (Zone 2 + 3). Upon reaching the limit the paid roaming data services (excluding daily and monthly fees) will be blocked.

  • The limit is automatically set to CZK 1,300. You can set the limit according to your needs from CZK 0 to CZK 9,900 (after CZK 50).
  • If you set it to 0 CZK and have World Roaming enabled (and no other data packages for abroad), you will only connect to the internet in the Czech Republic and Zone 1 countries (EU + Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Great Britain), where you use your domestic tariff. In other roaming zones, you will not connect to the internet.
  • When you reach the limit, we will block further paid roaming data services (this only applies to data charged based on the amount transferred).

What does the limit apply to?

  • For all data abroad that we charge based on the actual amount used (when you pay for each transferred kilobyte and do not use free units from a package).
  • With World Roaming, all data used counts towards the limit unless you have purchased a data package.
  • With Roaming for a Day enabled, the limit only applies in countries where Roaming for a Day does not apply, and therefore you automatically use World Roaming rates.

In Zone 1 countries (the EU and Norway, Liechtenstein, the UK and Iceland), the Data Cost Control in Roaming applies only to unlimited data plans, and only if you use up the full amount of data that is intended for use in Zone 1. We charge for additional data based on the amount actually used (at a rate per kilobyte) and the limit applies to data charged in this way.

How to change and unblock the limit?

Log in to My Vodafone and choose the section Services - Roaming.

To log in to My Vodafone you need an email and password.

Choose the menu Data Cost Control in Roaming.

Here you can check, set or unblock the limit.

The change will take effect within 24 hours. If you do not unblock the limit manually it will be unblocked automatically on the date of your billing period, and you will be able to use the data roaming services continuously.

How does the Data Cost Control in Roaming work?

  • When you open your browser abroad, a welcome page with information about the data tariff, limit, and current amount used will be displayed for free.
  • If you reach 80% and 100% of the limit, we will send you an informational SMS.
  • When you reach 100% of the limit, the current data connection will be interrupted. To continue using the internet, you need to unblock the limit.
